Penn-Mar Castings joins the family

The C.A. Lawton Co. welcomes Hanover, PA facility as a third iron foundry location

Birmingham, MI – Private equity firm, Oakland Standard Co., is proud to announce the expansion of its specialty metals platform and specifically the iron foundry group. Penn-Mar Castings, a gray-and-ductile iron foundry located in Hanover, Pennsylvania, will operate as the third location of The C.A. Lawton Co.

Alex Lawton, CEO of the now five-site specialty metals platform, said, “the addition of Penn-Mar Castings to our platform and especially the Iron Group creates a truly next-level offering. The combination with The C.A. Lawton Co. and its De Pere, WI and Minster, OH operations provides a combination of scope and reliability that will be valued by many.”

“I’m very excited to see our specialty metals group continue to build a uniquely integrated multi-site, multi-offering company. Alex Lawton and his leadership team, especially Barry Adamski as COO and Tim Flannery as CFO, will do a great job onboarding Penn-Mar Castings,” said Dan Bickersteth, a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Oakland Standard Co.

Founded in 1879 in De Pere, Wisconsin, Lawton is a leading manufacturer of gray-and ductile-iron castings serving the HVAC, mining, water, and paper industries. Lawton produces castings ranging in size from 400 to 40,000+ pounds. Lawton provides end-to-end casting solutions, from design inputs and engineering through pattern making, finishing, and machining, at its two current locations in De Pere, Wisconsin, and Minster, Ohio.

Penn-Mar Castings is a Hanover, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of high-quality, multi-cored gray-and-ductile iron castings in sizes ranging from 150 to 5,000 pounds. Their air-set, no-bake molding process produces products for the refrigeration/air conditioning, pump/compressor, and motor/generator industries. This complementary offering greatly enhances the iron segment of the specialty metals platform.

The platform also includes a steel segment featuring Temperform in Novi, Michigan, and Damascus Steel in New Brighton, Pennsylvania.
