What makes a well-rounded engineering team?

We asked RJ Hawkins, our Platform Engineering Manager, to weigh in on where our engineering team currently stands and what growth he would like to see. He explains that our team today has a vast amount of practical knowledge, which most of them acquired through years of experience in the foundry business.

Overall, RJ believes that “Really what we kind of need to make this a well-rounded team is younger, technically savvy people who are willing to work with the more experienced folks and understand the aspects of the process…”.

He explains that we could benefit greatly from bringing in people who are familiar with the newer software and other new technologies that are out there. RJ states that the foundry business is a legacy and oftentimes dated business, meaning that we typically do things the same way for years, but that we could find more efficient ways to complete our processes.

RJ says that there are two types of workers we are currently looking for: people who have a few years of experience (although not necessary) and are willing to work at the site level, as well as people who have many years of experience who are willing to work at the platform and engineering level who would be more focused on design.

Acquiring more talent on either level will allow us to put a bigger focus on the future of the business, rather than the day-to-day tasks.

If you feel that you would be a great fit for either of these jobs, please apply at https://lawtonstandard.applytojob.com/apply. We look forward to hearing from you!
