The C.A. Lawton Company & Temperform combine

The C.A. Lawton Company (De Pere, WI) has merged with Temperform (Novi, MI) as part of a long-term acquisition and expansion strategy. They are creating a new specialty metals platform that will better position both companies for growth in the industry. This merger will allow each company access to the other’s products and enhance value-added offerings across their customer bases. This new specialty metals platform will operate under the umbrella of Oakland Standard, a firm that specializes in helping organizations grow through mergers and acquisitions as well as facility and automation investments.

Alex Lawton, CEO of the new platform’s holding company, says, “We are excited to leverage our family’s 140+ years in the marketplace to grow and develop not only The C.A. Lawton Co. but its new partner, Temperform and future partner organizations. I am eager to lead the development of a multi-site, multi-offering, casting-centered business. I love customers and adding value. This change will allow us to serve more customers better, more broadly, and deeply.”

Alex Lawton speaks further on their enhanced mission to genuinely focus on the planet and people as well as profits. “We are building a specialty metals platform with improved outcomes for the people who rely on it and the environment, community, and marketplaces we inhabit. It starts with creating and maintaining a place people want to work for, buy from, and sell to. From there, we can develop unique offerings based on the capabilities we’ve assembled.”

Alex Lawton will be the CEO and a board member of the new company. The board of directors will also include Tim Flannery and Dan Bickersteth, both of Oakland Standard. Barry Adamski will remain President of the C.A. Lawton Co. Blake Albritton will remain President of Temperform.

Castings offered by the two companies are complementary. The C.A. Lawton Co. is a gray- and ductile-iron foundry that makes large castings (400-30,000lbs). Lawton serves the HVAC, mining, water, and paper industries, among others. They provide an end-to-end casting solution from design and engineering through finishing and machining.

Temperform pours smaller steel and stainless-steel castings (10-6,000lbs). They are a leading provider of castings used in corrosive, high-temperature applications. The combination of Temperform and Lawton will create a multi-metal, multi-capability organization with strengthened product offerings to customers. They will serve a broad range of applications across a wide variety of industries and end markets.

Day-to-day operations will remain the same at both Temperform and The C.A. Lawton Co. Both companies are interested in LEAN and continuous improvement and look forward to learning from each other’s operations.
