Damascus Steel Casting Company joins Temperform and The C.A. Lawton Co.
New Brighton, PA – Private equity firm, Oakland Standard Company, announces the expansion of the specialty metals platform. Damascus Steel Casting Company joins Temperform and The C.A. Lawton Co. in the platform aimed at providing the joint customer base with a more comprehensive casting offering.
Damascus Steel, founded in 1906, has been helping customers in a variety of industries by supplying high-performance steel castings. Their expertise in providing low to medium volume shell mold castings from concept to finished product aligns with the engineered castings approach of the platform.
Founded in 1879 in De Pere, Wisconsin, Lawton is a leading manufacturer of gray-and ductile-iron castings serving the HVAC, mining, water, and paper industries, among others. Lawton produces castings ranging in size from 400 to 20,000 pounds and provides an end-to-end casting solution, from design and engineering through finishing and machining.
Temperform is a Novi, Michigan-based niche manufacturer of heat, corrosion, and abrasion-resistant castings and machined components for use in a variety of industrial applications. They produce castings from 1 to 6,000 pounds in more than 400 alloys to best suit the application.
Alex Lawton, previously CEO of The C.A. Lawton Co. and now CEO of the new business platform, will lead the integration of the businesses and management teams. “The addition of Damascus and it’s differentiated market strategy is a great growth initiative for the steel division as well as a diversifier for the broader platform.”
“We are excited about the growth and diversification of the foundry platform and the talented team that we have been able to bring together,” said Oakland Standard Partner Dan Bickersteth. “We believe the addition of Damascus will help us continue to increase market share and provide our partners with a one-stop, full line of castings solutions.”
