    Lawton Grafton history

What started as a small operation in a basement has grown into a trusted precision machining partner serving customers across industries.

Founded in 1979 by Frank Oetlinger in Greenfield, Wisconsin, the business focused on delivering high-quality machining for demanding applications. Early growth led to a move to Jones Island in Milwaukee, followed by expansion into Grafton in the early 1990s as customer demand increased.

Through the 1990s and early 2000s, the company continued to invest in space, equipment, and capabilities—establishing a strong reputation for precision, reliability, and customer focus. In 2015, the business transitioned to Wisconsin Precision Machining (WPM), continuing its growth under new leadership.

In December 2018, Wisconsin Precision Machining became part of Renaissance Manufacturing Group, now known as Lawton Standard. Today, the Grafton location continues that legacy as Lawton Grafton, combining decades of machining expertise with the strength of an integrated manufacturing network.
